Some interesting tennis player quotes.

Hi,

I was just looking on some quotes site for a project for uni but I got a little side tracked and started to look up some tennis quotes. One I found interesting was spoken by Monica Seles in 1991:

"There was such anticipation before her matches. Everybody wondered about Suzanne, what she would wear, what she would look like. I would love to be like that. Everything is too simple in tennis now. Wouldn’t it be neat to be a mystery woman and bring high fashion back to the sport? To be like Suzanne ... out there but untouchable?... unreachable?" - As quoted in Sports Illustrated, p. 65 (May 27, 1991).

It seems as though Monica's thought back then has become a reality. For the last 5yrs or so, fashion has become a big part of Womens Tennis and two of the icons of tennis fashion are Venus and Serena who I guess at the moment you could deem as "untouchable" or "unreachable" (well these statements are more so for Serena I guess).

I might see what else I can dig up. I find it interesting in looking on things said in the past by people and then it comes to fruition!

-Rachel

Monica Seles on why she admired the controversial, rich, and flamboyantly independent rock star, Madonna:

"Madonna has total control over her life, and not many women have that."
-As quoted in Sports Illustrated, p. 63 (May 27, 1991).
