THE TENNIS CHANNEL SERVES UP GAME’S TOP SUPERSTARS IN NEW SERVICE OFFERED BY COX COMMUNICATIONS
SAN DIEGO (April 15, 2003) -- The Tennis Channel, the 24-hour cable network that provides comprehensive coverage of tennis and other racquet sports, will be available this Spring to Cox Communications cable subscribers in San Diego. Distribution of The Tennis Channel officially begins May 15, 2003, and is available on Cox Digital Cable from Cox Communications on Channel 367. The network is part of Cox’s Lifestyles digital tier of programming. Additionally, Cox Communications of Orange County plans to add The Tennis Channel in May and will soon announce a launch date.
The network’s programming combines the game’s brightest stars and many of the biggest tournaments -- Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Serena and Venus Williams, Lleyton Hewitt, Jennifer Capriati, Lindsay Davenport, Anna Kournikova and many others -- with the most extensive live tennis coverage.
More than 1000 hours of exclusive tournament coverage featuring the European Tennis Masters Series; the Fed Cup, non-US matches of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas, the Hyundai Hopman Cup; ATP Tour, WTA Tour and World Team Tennis competitions; plus scores of events from the top international, junior and intercollegiate circuits;
Behind-the-scenes access to the games hottest stars including in-depth interviews with the its most compelling personalities;

The Tennis Channel’s exclusive line-up of live tournament action features coverage of major international events never before telecast in the U.S. in their entirety, including the European elements of the ATP Tour’s prestigious Tennis Master Series from Monte Carlo, Rome, Hamburg, Madrid and Paris, as well as the Fed Cup, Davis Cup and Hopman Cup events.
The star-studded domestic schedule also includes the WTA’s Family Circle Cup (Charleston, S.C.), Sarasota Clay Court Classic (Sarasota, Fla.), JP Morgan Chase Open (Carson, Calif.), Bank of the West Classic (Stanford, Calif.), State Farm Women’s Tennis Classic (Scottsdale, Ariz.) plus the ATP’s U.S. Clay Court Championships (Houston), Kroger St. Jude Classic (Memphis), Franklin Templeton Classic (Scottsdale, Ariz.) The programming inventory also spotlights “Tennis Channel Classics,” allowing fans to re-live the sport’s greatest moments from a newly restored library of classic matches, as well as instructional programs covering everything from tennis fitness, mental preparation and nutrition to lessons from the greatest coaches of the sport.
