Does the WTA Tour CEO not know about Serena?

From the Navratilova presentation for winning singles doubles and mixed doubles at all 4 Slams:

“This is a stunning achievement and one that is not likely to ever be repeated,” said WTA Tour CEO Larry Scott.

May I remind Mr Scott that Miss Serena Williams is a mere two mixed doubles titles away from repeating that feat and is still a mere 21 years old!

Mirjana Lucic : Australian Open doubles champ and back in Top 100

Jelena Jankovic : US Open finalist 2008 and World No. 1

Jennifer Capriati : 3 Grand Slams, Olympic Gold and World No.1

Rafael Nadal : 10 Grand Slams, Olympic Gold and World No.1

Haha! i was thinking the exact same thing. I knew she was very close. Martina probably knows as well and didn't want to say anything.

No, I thought she won the Australian and French with Miryni. And the streak ended where she lost to Venus and Gimelstob at Wimbledon.

So she has won all four Slams in singles and doubles and won two of the four in mixed doubles, and has been runner-up at the two she hasn't won. That is a sensational achievement for a 21-year-old. Does she realise how close she is to this 'SUPER SLAM' that Navratilova has. If I was her I would be on the phone organising mixed partners for the French Open right now!

Serena! So close to another awesome achievement that has never even been mentioned! (till now! )

I wonder if she ever thought about it? It's really exciting! I remember her saying No Mas to mixed doubles, but she might do it for the sake of history if Mark will point out to her how close she is.

Come on, Mark! Send a note to her agent!

I guess I had it the other way around.

Thanx.

forget about Mark... when we go to any tournament that Serena's playing, we should like hold signs or something. if you get her autograph, mention it to her. send her some fanmail about it. this could be like a huge fan campaign!

what if Serena and James took on Andre and Steffi for the French open mixed dubs title? that would be some goooooood stuff!

Williams x2 Clijsters Golovin Ivanovic Li Jackson
Federer Blake Fish Roddick Grosjean Bryans x2

Come on, he's brand new to the WTA and trying to clean up the mess that Kevin Wulff made in a scant year (building on the mediocre job done by Bart McGuire B4 that). IMO, Scott has alot bigger stuff on his mind right now than who holds what records by how much. (For example making sure the tennis channel we've all been bitching about not only launches, but survives; or is replaced by one that does).

Interesting. I would think, though, that the CEO would need to be "on his game" when making comments about historical statistics. He does have some interesting financial issues ahead of him, but even those are not bigger than the actual game.
