Most Famous Ever?

Who is the most tennis player Ever? I mean, you could like walk up to someone that knows nothing about Tennis or the players, but you mention so and so tennis player and they actualy know them.

Also, who is the most famous number 1 ever? Im talking about Females, but after that, male or female who is the most famous?

Right now, id go with Serena. Not b/c she is my fave. But she has done so many commericals, so many mag covers, so many interviews. Not only most famous number 1 male or female, but ever. She has a lot on her shoulders. I think back in the day, a lot of the number 1's kept a low key, but Serena just loves it, she is enjoying all the press and stuff. I think Venus is right behind her, followed by Agassi, but Venus is starting to fade, Serena is starting to really leave her in the dust.

Who do you think?

Including men, it has to be John Mcenroe...his fame, love him or hate him, went way beyond the rold of tennis or indeed the world of sport.

Manchester City 2011 FA Cup winners! 2012 Premier League Champions! 2014 League Cup winners and Premier League Champions! At last!!!!!

I would say Agassi would be just as well known as McEnroe.

I don't think so. Mcenroe has more name recognition than agassi.

Kournikova by a mile on the women's side.

McEnroe is good for the men..

For the women...Anna first then Navvy...if you ask someone to name a famous tennis player Navvy might not be the first player they'll say, but it'll be the person most people can think of (for women)

OK maybe, but in the UK, Agassi is at least equal. During Wimbledon he is always in the tabloid papers, especially when he was younger. When Barbra Streisand went to his matches it was on the news, and when he said he shaved his chest it was all over the front pages!

maybe Raquel, but do you really think more Britons could name Agassi than Mcenroe? As i recall, John was just a tiny little bit of a tabloid darling himself, you know.

Rtael, you're right. navratilova would be second, I'm sure.

Pete Sampras for the men
(John MacEnwho?)
Anna Kournikova/Venus Williams

Venus is more recognized than Serena is I think, simply because we saw more of V

and I didnt know who MacEnroe was untill he commentated Wimbledon

but i've known who Pete Sampras was long before i had any interest in tennis

If I was to ask my friends to name me some tennis players (women) they would likely name me Kournikova and "the Williams Sisters" (if they were feeling bright that day, they might actually consider giving then separate identities).

But if you aren't just polling 20 year olds in university, then McEnroe does take the cake overall... at least on this continent

I'm actually surprised to find out how many peoploe know who Boris Becker is... must be thanks to his scummy tabloid reports I guess.
