He worked with Monica as her hitting partner (some say coach, but that was Monica's father) during her 1995 comeback.

It amazes me how many posters on here are not to familiar with tennis anytime past 1995. No offense to you mmc, but gosh.

Jimmy was one of the many potential junior U.S. players from the early 80s that would succeed McEnroe and Connors but he never quite made a dent on tour despite winning some prestigious titles such as The Italian and US Clay Court Opens.

He also won the 81 French Open mixed with Andrea Jaeger. I think his career pretty much went downhill after 1984. He still played but never won another title.

Burnout and injuries pretty much took it's toll on him.

I've met Jimmy before, since he came from my area. Really nice guy. Unfortunately, I never got to see him play in his prime.

Yes, he was early Bollettieri. He also traveled the tour with Monica 3 or 4 years ago briefly and he spoke then about helping her remove some bad technique habits that had crept into her groundstrokes. Prior to his arrival that season she had been hitting very ineffective, short loopy groundies, and they were almost always down the center of the court. In a matter of weeks after they were together, that was gone. If I recall, he couldn't take on a coaching position with her (even had she asked) because of family and his plans to play on the Senior Tour (or whatever was/is the name of that geezers tour). He's probably with Monica this week because the tournament is in Florida.

Yeah, let's hope he can impart some great wisdom on Monica this week before she heads to Europe...I really wish Monica would get a full-time coach, but I guess whatever makes her happy...

Visit MONICA!

I am a sinner too!
Jesus answered and said to him[Nicodemus, a Pharisee],"Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again[of the Spirit/above], he cannot see the kingdom of God."--John 3:3

Good works can't save you from hell!! Jesus loves you and wants to be in your heart and mind!!!

I will worship Jesus forever!

he has a big forehand

A single flow'r he sent me, since we met./All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet - One perfect rose.
I knew the language of the floweret;/'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.'
Love long has taken for his amulet/One perfect rose.
Why is it no one ever sent me yet/One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get/One perfect rose.
