What is happening with Lilia Osterloh...

obviously she is in a slump, but to lose to a 14-year old junior (Vika Kutuzova) and be bageled is certainly something...

was she injured? was she drinking an orange juice too much? has she hired an idiot to be her coach?

any info?

kutuzova is a great young player and the junior tour is getting closer and closer to the standard of the wta tour. kutuzova the '14yr old" is in the junior top 10 ahead of golovin and golovin just turned 15 and has been beating players in tier 1's or challenging then if not beating them.

I just hate seeing Lilia like this. She was playing great over a year ago, and is just in a terrible slump now.

Hopefully she breaks out of it soon.

i don't mind people feeling bad about her but i don't think it is necessary for everyone to keep relating to the fact that her opponent was a 14 year old. by doing that you aren't giving the credit to the young player. it sounds like you're saying because kutuzova is 14 then she is crap and lila shouldn't have lost to her. kutuzova is a good player and doing something like this at such a young age shows that she has talent.

cowza, I disagree about junior level becoming closer to the WTA level...

Besides, it was Vika's first pro-tournament (!) and she delivers a bagel to a player with lot of experience, formely #41 in the world (not so long ago) and wins over some good players. you're saying nothing really outstanding in that loss?

i'm not saying lila's form wasn't a factor but i don't know why you have to mention the fact that she lost to a 14 year old?

Gowza, look at this realistically.. a 14-year-old little girl beating a 20+ year-old in anything is rather discouraging.

I thought she was playing a little better lately too... I remember she won a couple matches.

tenn_ace, the difference is that you wouldn't be referring to age. if it was someone like sharapova would you mention their age? have you heard of kutuzova before?

and I'm refferring to her age because it's her asset... especially when she beats 20+ player

tenn_ace, well it sounded like you were using her age to make her sound less of a player than she is. it's all worked out now, now worries. we kewl?

I saw her in Montreal last year, and she looked terrible - slow, lack of fitness, inconsistent, etc.
