TOP 10 players only need 5~10 months to get out of TOP 20

looking at Hingis + TOP 12
Hingis ended in TOP 20 in 95 @ 15,
Clijster ended in TOP 20 in 2000 @ 17,
Serena did that in 1998 @ 17,
Venus did that at the beginning of 1998 @ 17,
Justine by 2001 clay season @ 18,
JenC was in TOP 10 @ 14,
Monica was in TOP 10 @ 15,
Lindsay by end of 1993 @ 17
Amelie after 99 AO run @ 19,
Chanda in 95 after French @ 19,
Daniella in 02 after Indian Wells @ 18
Dokic in 01 @ 17,
Myskina in 02 by Wimbies @ 20.......

so everyone reaches TOP 20 by age 20,
let's look at the Slam winners 1st
JenC/Monica/Martina of course are child prodigies,
but let's look at how others do,
Venus reached TOP 20 in 98,
and after a little over 2 years, she won her Wimbledon crown,
Serena reached at the end of 98,
and wins her 1st Slam the next year,
Lindsay start 94 as TOP 20 and ends the year as TOP 10

then let's look at NON Slam winners
Kim went from TOP 20 to TOP 10 in 6 months,
she goes from TOP 20 to TOP 10 after her French Open run,
Justin entered TOP 20 after 2001 Australian Open,
and becomes TOP 10 by Wimbledon in 6 months
Dokic enters TOP 20 after 2001 Miami,
but she took a bit longer to enter TOP 10 after
her Tier I title win in Moscow, about 7 months,
Hantuchova becomes TOP 20 after her 1st title,
the big one in Indian Wells, enters TOP 10, later during indoor season,
so about 6 months as well
Amelie enters TOP 10 in 99 after Italian Open, so about 5 months
Chanda entered TOP 10 after her SF run at AO 96 from
TOP 20 she entered after French Open 95, so about 6 months,
as we all know Myskina entered TOP 10 a month ago,
which is just a bit over 6 months for her to enter TOP 10,

so the average time to go from TOP 20 to TOP 10
for the NON-SLAM winners are 5~10 months

then let's look at active former TOP 10 outside TOP 20,
Anna Kournikova, age of 16,
she broke in TOP 20 in 98 after making Maimi final (l. to Venus)
and reached TOP 10 in June the next year, about 9 months
Schett, made TOP 20 after AO 96 @ 19,
she made TOP 10 at then end of the season, so about 9 months
Mary Pierce reached TOP 20 at age 17 in 92,
then she reached TOP 10 in about 6 months after making
QF of Aussie Open 93 at age 18
Majoli, the one slam wonder,
coz she reached TOP 20 ending 94 at age 17 (#13),
and reach TOP 10 after she made QF in French Open, so about 6 months
Cochita, another one slam wonder,
reached TOP 20 after Aussies 89 @ 17,
and reach TOP 10 in July about 6 months

also look at a retired ASV, she reached TOP 20 at age 16,
and reached TOP 10 after winning her 1st Slam At age 17 in 7 months

then let's look at higher ranked TOP 10 people,
Dementieva reached TOP 20 after US Open 00 SF run at 18,
then reached TOP 10 after Miami where she reached SF, so 6 months
Schnyder reached TOP 20 by French Open 98,
TOP 10 in 98 at age 19 in about 5 months
Magee Maleeva made TOP 20 in 92 at age 17,
and made TOP 10 in 94, in 2 years, by age 20
Coezter made TOP 20 in 92 at age 20, but
only made TOP 10 IN 97 IN 25.......

then finally some late bloomers....(like Nastya)
Karina Habsudova, 1st SVK players to make TOP 10,
she ended 96 as TOP 20 at age 23,
and made TOP 10 in 9 months after Linz 97
then 3 French players,
Julie Halard-Decugis who even though made TOP 20 at 20 in 91,
but she waited for 8 years to make the TOP 10,
mostly due to the injuries......so an exception to 5-10 months rule
Testud made TOP 20 at 25, but not till 2000 did she make TOP 10 at 28,
and not to mention Tauziat, the most strage case of TOP 10
where she made TOP 10 at 23, but she only cracked TOP 10 at age 30,

so for some reasons, French players dont really follow the rules,
and seem to be late bloomers.......
but most TOP 10 players wont stay in TOP 20 for over a year
even though in some cases they stay a bit longer,
but the trend tends to be 5-10 months

Are you sure about that Venus stat - wasn't she a US open finalist in 1997 ? Surely that would have pushed her into the top twenty ?

Elena Bovina... Top 20 after Australian Open. She was 19 years 10 months...

There's always exceptions to the rule...

i dont know what you are talking about.....
what i'm saying is that TOP 20 players,
if with TOP 10 potentials, will hit TOP 10 in a year,
or they probably wont make it again
