Will Justine surpass Lindsay?

As an Olympic gold medalist, 3 time Slam champions,
year end Championship winner, former #1, etc, etc,
Lindsay has accomplished more in her career than Justine,

Even though Lindsay was less impressive as a teen
with best showing of QF at Aussie, French, Wimbies,
and 4R in US Open and no Tier I titles,
which Justine has either achieved or passed as a teen,
but Lindsay at 20 won her gold medal,
and reach #1 after 2 years after she won her 1st Slam in America,

Justine has shown much more potential than Lindsay,
with her most impressive win coming at 19 by winning Berlin,
and last week winning Charleston, both with stronger
field than the Olympics...........
Will she fulfill her potentials soon?

I do think she will have a better career then lin-C, I'd say her most impressive tournament, to date, though was Wimby Finals but Berlin/Charleston wins rank right after that....Justine has already made the finals of a grandslam and several semi-finals, I don't see any reason why surpassing lindsay's career would be out of her reach

Who is Rtael?
This guy Rtael ,brainless and ignorant, is one of the most obnoxious, arrogant and coward guys whos has been a pest in this forum for years now.Given the new anti-bully policy he'll probably be expelled soon. Observe how he tries to rally and gang others against you. Mean people like him shouldn't be allowed here. And all because he "doesn't like your attitude"!!

By the way she won't be gaining #1 posituion this year or next year...she is a GREAT player and all and she is still improving by leaps and bounds )especially her mental game) and she has improved greatly on hardcourts but until she can become more of a threat on hardcourts, she won't be a real contender for #1 ranking

When Justine has a Slam or two under her belt, then this discussion might be warranted. While she's "hot" at the moment (after beating Serena) and I understand the enthusiasm, this discussion is very premature.

In order to surpass Linday doesn't she have to be no.1 for a while ?

Can't see it happening at the moment whilst Serena and Venus are around.

yeah, we'll see after this year's RG

and btw, while she hasn't won a slam yet she has made runner-up and that is enough to warrant discussion

It's true that she has done more at a young age than davenport did. But that doesn't mean she'll go on to even greater things in her 20s like Lindsay did. everybody has a different career trajectory. Nobody's is the same.

This discussion is also premature because Lindsay has yet to finish adding to her credentials.

Anyhow, I hope Justine has a wonderful career, and i think she will. If it's as successful as Lindsay's, I think she'll have a lot to be proud of.

Lots of Runners-up don't go on to win. I'm sure Helena Sukova (0/4); Mary Jo (0/3), and Wendy Turnbull (0-2) all sparked some discussions as well (back in their haydays).

You are, of course, entitled to your optimism.

This seems to be a very speculative thread but I do care to speculate. Even though I am very bias towards Justine Henin-Hardenne, I will state my opinion as unbias as possible. First of all, I am bias towards Justine primarily because of the drive and determination I see in her. I really see an athlete who can do well because she has a beautiful game. The first time I've ever seen her was at the Wimbledon Championships 2001 and after defeating Jennifer Capriati I knew that Justine Henin would be a future power in tennis. No one has defeated Capriati in a Grand Slam until that moment and I was happy that Justine did it because her game and her poise during that match was just so spectacular.
Also during her match with Venus at the finals although she didn't defeat her, was just magnificent. She (a relatively unknown Belgian player) made the Wimbledon finals and took off a set of the Venus Williams game. Justine just shows so much promise. That whole tournament just really impressed me with Justine's game. That backhand was just gorgeous and the variety was incredible.
Another match that really impressed me was the 2002 Wimbledon, I believe it was the, Quarter Finals (or was 4R) against Monica Seles. That match was just so well played. There was nothing between them except a few GS titles come Monica's way but it was just a truly magnificent match to watch and the maturity that Justine showed during that match and her composure illustrated why she is threat to the title a year ago and for a long time to come.
These are just a couple of things I saw in Justine that really made me believe in her talent. Her game and determination really should be evaluated more as a contende for many titles and for the #1 title sooner or later.

when ur chance is only really on 2 surfaces (one which others are even better on) then ur number of slams will be limited.

im not saying Justine will never win slams but for the moment she remains slamless

i wish her all the best tho, shes impressed me on the HC this yeark.....

Another thing that really shows that she can be a much better tennis player is because of her improvement on the hardcourts. She did really well at the Australian making the SF for the first time! And winning a hardcourt tier ii event over players who naturally do better on harcourts like Capriati and Seles. Her improvement shows that soon she will be a force to reckon with on hardcourts and not just clay and grass.

I guess it's too bad that Justine beat Lindsay in a slam, on Hardcourt no less... (well Rebound Ace but more similar to hardcourt then any other surface)
