Well that was a bad bad bad match makes the AO look like... well it should have never happened. Kim played AWFUL,ABYSMAL, Serena played ok, just got the ball back in court and waited for Kim to plough it into the net. All credit to Serena though for keeping her head, it could have been easy for it not to.

KIM!!! Come on play better next time you know you can.

Wow, that wasn't even close.

well, maybe it got a bit close in the first set.. but the rest of it wasn't really a contest.

I think Kim is a great player, but she's sort of capriati-like in her game. she's a GREAT defensive player, GREAT athlete, SOLID groundstrokes, Great never-say-die attitude etc. No major weaknesses. HOWEVER, that is not enough to beat Serena (yes, I know that Kim has beaten Serena, once).

anyway, go to Serena, defend your title! :bounce: :bounce:

i think it was a much better match from Australia for Kim and Serena. But Kim has to realize. That Serena is either going to be off her game or on her game. In any case, Kim needs to at least attempt Offense, when Serena is on or off. Defense just doesn't work against Serena. Todays match was no different from the level of play Serena displayed at 1-5 down. It wasn't great tennis from Serena (that we have seen), but it just shows you that, even not playing perfect, she can still cruz and take out Kim.

You're absolutely right, dava_russianrule. I think commentators overuse "flat" to describe players' performances when they lose. A lot of the time, their opponents just play better. But, "flat" is more than apt for what Kim did today. I bet she's more angry at herself because she couldn't get it going than at losing the match. Congratulations Serena!
