The thing to keep in mind is, if you play 32 tournaments, chances are no more than 4 of them will be Slams. Slams are where you get the biggest points, and Kim's points from 2 of those are WAY below her current abilities. Serena may only play 13 events, but 4 of those are Slams and another is Home Depot Championships. Figure Serena's 4 Slams at about 1000 points each. In her other 9 events she would be averaging just over 300 per tournament. Her overall average is about 530 per tournament. That's a lot, but if she had played only Slams she would be averaging 1000 per tournament. So yes, players with more events have a significant advantage in the rankings, but it is not as huge as some would suggest.
