Will Elke Clijsters take longer to be a top player?

I was kind of bummed to see that Elke Clijsters lost another early round 10k tournament this week.

I am wondering what kind of talent she actually has as a tennis player. I know she has a lot to live up to since big sister is a top-five player, but Elke's results seems to indicate she has a lot more development to go.

So what is her game like folks?

She sill be a very good odubles player ina matetr of time (3 or 4 years), maybe top 50 in singles but that would be very optimistic and woudl require some big changes

A man may fight for many things. His country, his friends, his principles, the glistening ear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French porn.

she is going to have to do some serious development. her junior singles results have been ordinary. although she has played two decent matches against patty in antwerp, so who knows?

She may not achieve much, but I must say she has a lovely and distinctive first name. Pity her older sister isn't called Moose Clijsters, isn't it?

from what I saw she is a everything or nothing player

We all start in the streams
We're all carried along

I think she needs to be more consistent. When I saw her in Hull in January she was really playing well and I was convinced she was going to break the top 500 soon (in both the tournaments she played in England, she went out in the semis against the eventual champion). But lately her results have been quite disappointing. She has potential though, she has a very good serve and a lot of power. Maybe she's not top 10 material like her big sis, but she should be able to climb higher than her current ranking.

I am still waiting for Llyeton Hewitt's sister to make it to the top 100. you would think that both Elke and Jacinta(i think that's her name) would benefit greatly by hitting with the men's no.1 and women's no.3.
That there are two sisters at the top of the rankings still baffles me!

Like Fieke said, she really has the potential to became a decent player (good serve and groundstrokes), but she has to be more consistent. She started the year pretty good with two semis and a doubles title...but since Antwerp she only lost in the first rounds (ok, she always draws a seed)... I stil think she's top-150 material. Go Elke

C'mon Belgians

I wouldn't pay more than a buck-fifty a share for stock in Elke Clisters's tennis future, unless they threw in some Kim shares for the same price...

you cant buy talent. you can have the best coaches, hitting partners etc but essentially it comes down to something largely innate

Good luck to the Aussie and Balkan girls!

I think, that first Kim has to help her by playing dubs; in Antwerp, for example, she played dubs with Sugiyama, but not her sister!!!

still it's weird that a few years ago I heard from commentators that Elke had more talent as Kim and that she could be even better.
still kim had not much problems to be a steady wta players in a few months when she started to play wta tournaments in 99 (and then moved on and on) while elke has all troubles with that.
