Thumbs down Both Venus and Serena only played 2 Wta Tournaments Each this year

I am kind of dissapointed.
I was thinking I was going to see them more this year, but they are really really taking it easy on the tennis court.
It is dissapointing.
I know injuries happen and I understand why Serena couldn't play, but why didn't she play Sydney for example, maybe things don't go her way there?
Can someone put the tournament of the top ten players this year.
Serena 2
Venus 2
Kim 4(?)
Justine ?
etc...

They said they aren't going to play anymore this year than they did last year. Serena became #1 with 13 tournaments and said she doesn't expect to play anymore this year.

well actually she can play one and only one more tournament. she didnt play in Montreal and she is gonna play in Toronto this summer, so it should have been 14, but know that she had pulled out of Scottsdale because of an injury, it'll go right back to 13 tournaments.

Jelena Dokic.Vera Zvonareva.Tatiana Golovin.Mary Pierce.Monica Seles.Martina Hingis.Anna Kournikova

this is how venus/serena really have always been. last year they played little few tournies, but they entered in more than previous times. And even though they didnt play a lot last year, they played more than usual. So this year, everyone is expecting the same thing, or even more. that is typical out of fans, their player plays more than usual, and the following year, they won't them to play even more than that, i don't think its a good idea. We have the sisters dominating, and I don't mind them playing few tournies at all. They are doing just fine healthy and blessed. Some see it as they could play more, some see it as they could take some breaks and do other things in life. You must always consider the factor when talking about venus/serena schedules that they aren't all about tennis. Tennis is just another thing on their list of "things to do" so they have other priorites in the year besides these tournies

they always win mostly so it is mentally and physically tough.

Steffi Graf only played 12 or 13 events.

You have to look after your body so I think Venus is doing the right thing. There is more to life than tennis.

not a surprise but it's disappointing... then again I expect to see Serena and Venus in off the court stuff like AWARD SHOWS and MOVIES so I suppose it's ok then.

Williams x2 Clijsters Golovin Ivanovic Li Jackson
Federer Blake Fish Roddick Grosjean Bryans x2

Serena is only playing Miami, Rome and French...I think that is what I saw. I think she should add maybe Charleston or something

If kim does overtake venus in the rankings, will that mean venus and serena will play each other before the finals. I thought i heard navratilova saying once that the organisers could still put them in opposite sides of the draw if they wanted.??

The next big thing: Voegele

Wise decision on Serena's part. She has firmly stated what her season objective is, and there is no reason to doubt her seriouness. She thinks she can pull it off.

But she very well knows that she can't play 17-18 tournaments and stay undefeated. However, if she sticks to 12-13, she may just have a shot, albeit a very small one. Even if she is already 2 for 2.

I think the only way for them to play more, is if they start losing to other player/players & lose #1 & #2. That might motivate them to play more. But if that happens & they keep losing even with playing more, they will probably retire to save face.

keep loosing? serena has no loosing streak, and venus' only loosing streak is to serena. so i doubt we will see any of these sisters to start loosing. I doubt we will even see them loose 2 straight mathces in a row, or even 2 tournies in a row

You should emphasize the number of matches they played.

Take, say, Serena with her "just" 2 tournaments and look her W/L record
Then compare the number of matches she played with some girls who already have 5 tourneys (e.g., Chanda or Daniela). They probably played about the same number of matches. And if you take Jelena D. - well, despite her 5 tournaments, she probably played twice as little matches as Serena (I'm too lazy to look at stats right now ).

Compare the numbers and you'll see who played more tennis this year
