OP, I want to know HOW in heck you put Sloane Stephens in there as a challenger for #1? Stephens has immense talent, but is a quitter and has a horrible attitude out on court unfortunately early on in her career. Oh wait, you must be kidding. Never mind ...
Agree on Sloane. she need a new coach ASAP.

Serena and Azarenka

Film, a mirror of the society. A good half-and-half mix of indie & mainstream.

If Serena stays healthy, just 1. Otherwise 3 or 2. One of them Azarenka.

Tired of peasants.

Re: How many #1s will we have in 2014?

I don't see her losing it. Based off the lead she has right now Azarenka would have to duplicate her beginning to stay where she is, and then expect Serena to not do as well to even catch up. That's a whole heck of a lot. Which I don't see that happening. She has a chance to extend her lead. Especially at the beginning of the year Victoria has the most points to defend. I say if she doesn't defend at least half of those AO points don't expect Serena to be passed in 2014

Re: How many #1s will we have in 2014?

Serena has big points from all the tournies spread out the whole season, so she is at an advantage to hold on the number one spot with a buffer, even when she does poorly/ not playing in a short period of time. The one player can replace Serena is Aza and not until early next summer, since Aza also has her majority of points in the st half of the season.

To sum it up, the most likely scenario in number of #1 player next year is 1 ( Serena), or 2 ( most likely Vika if Serena injured/ taking breaks). There is a slim chance that someone else outside of those 2 will take over the top rank but not without the help of them.

Eadwanska is not going to be #1. Not in 2014 and frankly I'd say never. She's not even in the discussion.
