Re: Is Nadia Petrova Finished?

I say the exact same thing about JJ... million dollar talent - one cent head.

But thankfully JJ isn't finished.

I also heard that she was going to go for American Citizenship. I guess she decided against it, because I've heard nothing about it for a long while. As far as her talent goes, she has a great deal of talent/potential. She, like many of the Russians, was/is a "head case" who never got the most out of her talent unfortunately whose time has passed her by, as she's now too old to win a slam.

Re: Is Nadia Petrova Finished?

Injuries have hurt Nadia's singles, year, but she's back in Istanbul with her current partner:

ISTANBUL, Turkey - A few weeks ago co-World No.1s Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci became the first team to qualify for the doubles event at the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships - Istanbul. And today, all in one shot, the other three teams have all been announced as qualifiers - Nadia Petrova and Katarina Srebotnik, Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina, and Hsieh Su-Wei and Peng Shuai. - See more at: http://www.wtatennis.com/news/articl....TFgx1XQz.dpuf

Exactly the same thing happened with her in 2005, but she got better in 2006. You just never know.

I think she applied for a double citizenship as she currently resides in Miami.

I refuse to accept she is done, she has like tones of energy in the tank left.

Nadia
She's made so many weird decisions and has been prone to injuries. I think her singles career is over I don't see her playing doubles for long as well.

Is the carpet comfortable?

Re: Is Nadia Petrova Finished?

Injuries and the coaching change ruined her year.

I'd love it if she came back....but Nadia's problem has always been motivation.

There is something about her that makes me remind about Hana Mandlikova .

She's not even remotely comparable.

Re: Is Nadia Petrova Finished?

I never got all the positive statements about Petrova. She was at her best a good player, but there are so many things wrong with her, starting from her attitude on court (always whining, always 'disrespectful', to quote someone) and ending to many of her statements off court.
Nadia achieved what she could. She is everything but an underachiever.

kinda agree, but she did have enough tennis in her to play in a GS final, especially in that one French Open she lost due to overplaying the clay season.

Re: Is Nadia Petrova Finished?

Nadia played in a tough era. She won 13 titles, including Tier I.
Won over 20 doubles titles, including YEC and won an Olympic medal.
She wasnt as good as Justine, Serena, Venus, Kim, Maria. But did pretty well. Still going to Istanbul this year

Not game wise per se, more along the lines of being temperamental and streaky.
