You just don't understand my point.
Gloating is fine, if you're excited your fav won and want to show others who didn't think so that they are wrong. But I don't need my post to be quoted and lumped into a "Bye Bitch" GIF, and "Suck it haters". I'm not a "hater" or a "bitch" simply because I predicted your favorite would lose.
Others who go out of their way to make rude predictions like "The pusher to get PUSHED out the door 0-6 0-6" or something of the sort, I can see how that warrants a response.
To each their own I guess.
If you are referring to Venus prediction and result thread, I think you are not being careful in your observation.
For a very long time, Venus has been maligned, ridiculed, dismissed, disrespected, treatded with contempt, in both prediction and result threads involving her.
Today, the great majority of posts that are being quoted back are mostly those that were contemptuous or insulting of Venus.
Also the number of time a poster with the wrong predication is quoted is commensurate with the number of time the said poster has made derogatory comments about Venus in a result or prediction thread.
I think this kind of quote-back is highly appropriate, for it has chilling effect on those who are engaged in the exercise
They don't want to be embarrassed or ridiculed as they have themselves done repeatably.
I am not here to give you advice, but I do think one that would made this thread worthwhile to urge posters who writes such comments to dial down a little, so there would not be the response and GIFs you are decrying.
Your timing is also unfortunate.
Venus fans are not as vociferous as others. They are more reserved and measured in their tone.
Even their celebrations are contained and rarely confrontational.
Even when a poster is fan of both Venus and Serena, s/he uses a different tone when talking about /defending Venus versus when it is Serena.
Can't put my finger on it, but I know that happens to me.
