The problem with these points is they further compound the bad scheduling of the calendar. It will inflate certain premier events which get weak fields year after year.
Plus you have other issues like all these 125k's and new internationals appearing in Asia which gives an advantage to players based in these countries. You will end up with players like the famous case of Yen-Hsun Lu in the ATP. (You could argue the WTA want this though).
It also hurts top 10 players who are slumping further. Because they can't play internationals, and are now posting less points week after week.
