Back to your question, no she's not missed. The tour would do fine without her.

Well, Maria is very competitive in the drama match-up against Serena.

Please correct the thread title. It's Sugarpova.

Maria has lots of fans so im sure her presence is missed with the Us Open organizers and tv audience. She's a worldwide star like Serena, Federer, and Nadal.

Re: Does Anyone Think That the US Open Is Boring Without Sharapova?

not at all. Chances are she would have been gone by this point anyway so its not like she would have impacted the outcome. all her prescence would have meant was another embarrassing loss to vika or serena (if she got that far)

Correction, it gives Maria's haters yet another chance to seethe over her existence while she is having a great time paddle boarding.

Really? I did not notice that that.

Most non-Maria fan fans are busy cheering for their faves.
Since the Connors firing and Maria withdrawal from USO, there has not been too many contentious talks about Maria.

My point was, Maria is having a well deserved break and enjoying herself and recharging her battery, so her fans could relax as well.
Yes you miss her, but tennis is the last hing she is thinking about right now.

Re: Does Anyone Think That the US Open Is Boring Without Sharapova?

The implication of the premise of this thread in the abstract is that a slam without the presence of a Top 5 ranked player lessens the excitement of the tournament. This might be true if the missing top ranked player is in form and a threat to capture the title. However in the case of Maria, considering her performance (?) at Wimbledon and the subsequent one losing match since would suggest that she would not have been a factor in this tournament even if free of injury. Thus by definition the question of the thread must be answered in the negative.

It's always boring when the top seeds are missing. Most fans like to see robust competitions.
