Cool When did we have a shorter set of title winners in one week?

Ai is 5ft4, Amanda 5ft 2.

This must be the shortest roll of honour for a single week we've had in a while

Congrats to both, been waiting for another "Majoli in Charleston/Schnyder in Zurich/Maleeva in Moscow" kinda week and Ai certainly did it well this week cutting up a bunch of higher ranked players, and Amanda with another title, I'm so happy and proud

contary to popular belief, size does not win you matches. Brains, talent and fitness do. Otherwise Alicia molik one of the tallest girls on the tour would be a huge force to reckon with and Amanda would not have a chance.

Only week I can think of that comes close is Anna Smashnova winning Shanghai, and Cara Black winning Hawaii.

And size doesn't matter... because the tallest girl wouldn't lose 1-6 4-6 in the 1st round... LENA

Don't forget JUJU winning last week in tough matches over Cappy and Monica. Juju ain't tall at all! Not to mention that great match Juju played over Lindsay in Australia. Ai has gotten wins over Stevenson, Daniilidou, Dementieva?? (not sure), Clijsters, Capriati, Hantuchova, Dokic and Davenport since last summer. I think she is playing great in general. Short players are just perceived to be at a disadvantage but look at Serena beating Venus or Agassi and Hewitt often beating taller players. It's more about skill, technique, mental strength, shot selection and strategy. Even match point for Alexandra Stevenson started with a HUGE 119 mph serve deep in the box and into Ai's body and it still came back in an awkward spot which caused Alex to hit a poor approach and then miss the backhand volley when stretched out.
