Classic Player to Player Insults!

Oh the days...I remember them well...when teens with 'tude arrived on the court with big talent, big egos and big mouths to boot. Do you recall? Martina! Anna! The Williams Sisters! On their way to collecting trophies, they served as many insults as they did balls...

Now Martina has retired, Anna has retreated and the Williams sisters humbly accept each other as rivals...

But as long as there is competition, as long as there is a champion, an also-ran, an outstanding fresh face, a rival, a thorn in one's shoe, there will be the insults, and the media that prints them.

This thread is to post your favorite quoted insults from one player to another. This should be a guilty pleasure, a walk down memory lane or the look at emerging rivalries. Please, no insults to other posters!

Thanks in advance

I'll start:

"I don’t want to play doubles with you anymore because you are getting old and slow."

--Martina Hingis to Jana Novotna on why she was breaking their doubles relationship halfway through the season to join up with glamour-girl, Anna Kournikova.

"She's always been the type of person that -- she says things, just speaks her mind. I guess it has a little bit to do with not having a formal education. "

--Serena Williams on Martina Hingis's blunt speaking style.

I thought Novotna confessed that Martina never said that to her.

"Yeah losing to you bitch."
-Martina Navratilova, when asked by Pam Shriver if she had a particularly painful loss at the Open

"Um, gee I'd have to really think about it and get back to you."
-Venus to Martina N when Martina asked "If I could have a part of your game, I'd have your serve. What part of my game would you like?"

Reporter: "Nathalie, Kim Clijsters said she had an ear infection and that is why she lost. She couldn't hear the ball. Wouldn't that be a detriment, not being able to hear the ball?"
Dechy: "Well yes, and not being able to see it as well I suppose."
-Nathalie Dechy

Lol that comment Martina made to Pam was tongue-in-cheek. You know it's funny so many comments are made about what players have said in the past five years or so.

But as far as I am concerned the juiciest comments came from the generation of the 70s and 80s.

Take JoAnne Russell. SHe was a ok player who tried to make a living as a commentator and used to me the most biased woman I had ever heard.

Proof was the fact how anti-Martina N. she was. Even at her dominating best, Joanne always thought Chris Evert was gonna win the match.

Even trying to say that "Chris' class on court is what makes her better on court."

Not sure how she is now, I think she occasionally commentates today, but back then I wanted to smack her.

i'm interested to know if Martina H ever made the "you serve first - i break you?" comment before a match?

if she did - who did she say that to?

Come back Martina

I think Martina Hingis said that to Lindsay Davenport in LA in 1997 semifinals. And then that was one of the five matches she lost all year!

(when she dominated)

Aus Open 2001 : Venus had a bizarre sexy outfit.

Q. When you watched Venus today, did you notice she was having trouble with her dress?

MARTINA HINGIS: Well, I don't know if that's one of her creations, but... (Laughter.) Well, she just got this deal, no, with Reebok, so they had to come up with something new. I don't know if I would be able to wear something like that. I'm very happy with my outfit. So...

Steffi is told what Gaby said during an interview:
Steffi: Oh, since when did she become number one?

(I think that's the only time i heard Steffi bad, mouth another palyer. I could be wrong though.)
