Question Was there much national newspaper/magazine coverage of Hingis retirement?

I was wondering, did anyone see any articles or stuff written about Marti's retirement? I mean I don't recall seeing anything in ESPN Magazine or Sports Illustrated.

Anyone here see anything?

well, she didn't retire. That's your reason.

also, she's a foreigner and woman and plays a sport that's a distant 6th or so in popularity in the states. Not going to be much attention.

She had more attention last year, when she got her second surgery. She said "possible retirement" and she was in every magazine and newspaper.

Well guess what, she was back, what, THREE whole months later? So I think the media is skeptical. They don't want to write a retirement article and see her face at the French Open.

I think she was upstaged by Chris Evert's retirement from the broadcast booth.

If your fave's coach isn't Richard Williams, that's just her first problem...

I was there when the ALL BLACKS won the World Cup in 2011!!!

It was scrolled across the bottom of CNN and on most american news websites front pages. Also received coverage in NY times, USA Today, etc.
