Toronto R1: (WC) Bouchard def. Kleybanova 6-3 6-1

This has nothing to do with the tennis at all. This has to do with the guts, courage and heart that a 24 year old Russian has in even attempting a comeback after battling cancer. There's been so much negativity in sports and a bit of it is in tennis, but this is a story that brings a tear to your eye. To battle Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma at 22 and to have the desire to want to come back and work through the process of the grind of working her way back on tour is something to be admired, commended and praised. Welcome back, Alisa. You're an inspiration to everyone.

No matter what the scoreboard says, the big winner of this match is Alisa!

Well said

It's just amazing to see her back on court again. So emotional as well. She was obviously rusty after being off tour for so long but her being on court itself is inspirational

Really happy to see Kleybanova back. I don't think she played as well as she wanted to but great to see her play.

Genie played a much better 2nd set!! I think Alisa hold serve only one time in the match due to Genie really aggressive returns. Playing Kvitova next! I'm hoping for a great match!

Alisa has to improve a lot from this to play the tour when her protected ranking is gone.
She can clean up a lot of those unforced errors. She had a lot of power before the cancer, she's going to have to play different in this part 2 of her career

I agree. She's got about a year of improvement ahead of her.

Well done, Genie.

Expected win for Genie, well played.

I have always loved me some Kleybs, how wonderful to see her back on such a stage.

If there's any player on this tour who has the will to fight her back, it's Alisa.
