Really disrespectful towards Miss Foo. She'd bagel that faux legend on every occasion at their peaks.

What?

So what happens when a friend or partner holds a different opinion against your favorite?

Although, it's only true in certain spurts ('09 RG QF vs. Safina, some of her hitting patterns against Serena, random matches here and there).

Azarenka is at her very best when she is taking one hand off the racquet occasionally. Her dropshot is underrated as are her volleys, but essentially she is like the year 2000 version of Martina with more finishing power and less creativity and intangibles.

But the way they approach their position on the baseline, service games, and some of the construction is in the same vein.

Azarenka is still a horrible tennis player, though.

For me. take the single right hand away and azarenka is alot like Justine off the ground and in intensity.

Hingis is a doubles specialist.

So, JJ is the new Hingis.

Doubles Specialist Јеlena Jankovic
Crowd Favourite Victoria Azarenka

Re: Is Azarenka the REAL "New Hingis"?

She's the new Hingis in so far as chimpanzees share 99% of Legend's human DNA. Which is closer than horses and giraffes and maybe even certain Polish tennis players, I guess.

Re: Is Azarenka the REAL "New Hingis"?

Hingis was a master tactician, who could play every shot in the book, and who was super versatile and could switch up her game plan at the drop of the hat. Sure, the pair of them have the ability to take the ball really early, and re-direct pace very well, but just because Azarenka doesn't play like she's braindead doesn't mean that there's a strong comparison. The answer is no.

Grassonkova.

Re: Is Azarenka the REAL "New Hingis"?

In terms of ball control and changing direction of the ball, she is the closest thing to Hingis. She is the more powerful version of her with less feel and less tactical understanding.

Wozniacki, Radwanska comparisons are very disrespectful (Hi, Sloane) to Martina. Seriously, if you told this to the likes of Serena, Venus, Lindsay etc. they would laugh in your face.

Re: Is Azarenka the REAL "New Hingis"?

Many players have been compared to Hingis. Radwanska, Chakvetadze, Jankovic, Azarenka, Wozniacki. And they are all different players. It just shows how unique Martina was, many players remind us of her at moments, but nobody can play like that.

I think we should stop searching for the next Hingis. But if we have to compare them, I'd say that Azarenka is some mix of LenaD and Hingis, but not the new Hingis.

Don't ever compare Nastya with Azarenka!!

Nastya had way more natural talent and could do a lot more with the ball.
But I have to admit that Azarenka is stronger mentally.

Anastasia Myskina

Re: Is Azarenka the REAL "New Hingis"?

I think Azarenka would rather be known as the "First Azarenka" than the New "Hingis"

players for the most part would rather make their own name, than have the names of others thrown on top of them

I'll always be a fan of Anna...even if she never comes back to the tour. She had a beautiful game...what a shame about her career, she was so talented.

Am I the only one who thinks Hingis moves much better and faster than Azarenka / Azaranka / Guest?
