Would Anyone like Venus Williams to take over Stacey McAllister's WTA Job ?

I think she could do a fantastic job and really evolve Women's tennis again. She would have a different vision and she is a massive brand herself. Do you think after 2016 Venus will take the job, which will most probably be offered to her. Im sure Billie Jean wants her to have it.

Thoughts ? What could she bring to the position

Her and Sharapova should co-run WTA. Sharapova will take care of the bu$iness lobbying end.

Re: Would Anyone like Venus Williams to take over Stacey McAllister's WTA Job ?

Something tells me you got this idea from someone else like Muah!

I for one think this is the career Venus should go for after she retires from singles. She understands how to market the WTA on par with the ATP and she also knows how to make changes in the tennis world. She's already got a resume that would suggest she could take the WTA to an even higher level than we've previously seen.

Her work with BJK on equal pay is what really made me feel this way. As a player, for Venus to take a stand was a huge reason the women enjoy equal pay at all the slams. She also did a great thing by challenging the tournament organizers in Dubai for not allowing Shahar Peer a WC to enter the tournament a few years back. Venus still won the whole thing but made her acceptance speech a platform to call for change.

DIPLOMATIC QUEEN VENUS!

You gave me the idea for the thread. Im sure Venus could get people to put cameras in for round 1-3 matches at US OPEN SERIES! She is the ideal person for the job as been there and done it

Absolutely. It would do the tour so many good if someone like Venus who actually seems to care about women in sports took charge . I love this idea.

Love her, but no.

Taking a stand is one thing, managing a business is another. Eleven, Jamba Juice, and her interior design company credentials don't exactly scream entrepreneurial prodigy to me.

Just a matter of time. She has been groomed for this.

But she has also shown interest in working with UNESCO to empower girls and women around the world.

Every major business person has success and failures in their investments, but Venus knows tennis like she knows nothing else. I'd venture to say those things you mentioned are only preparation for a bigger role like CEO. Venus has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, her endeavors in those companies only prove she is very forward thinking in how she invests her time/money.

You boycott a tennis tournament and THEN expect to get Allaster's job where dealing with tourney organizers is your daily core business? LOL

You cannot be serious

Re: Would Anyone like Venus Williams to take over Stacey McAllister's WTA Job ?

There's probably a lot more to being a business executive than some of you might think. I don't profess to know what that all entails, but I imagine you need some experience in creating and managing budgets, expense sheets, corporate law pertaining to the board of directors, etc. I mean, Stacey Allaster used to be a tennis player as well, yes, but she has an MBA and had like 15-20 years as a business executive before being chosen CEO...

I think she'd make a great board member. But CEO? No way

I'd like it.

I'm also underwhelmed by a lot of business credentials. CEOs have "people" to handle a lot of things. I understand that the WTA has to be profitable, but it seems in recent years it has drifted away from its mission of serving the players and fans. Venus could be just the sort of person who could stimulate and grow interest in the WTA BY going back to its roots, instead of playing in front of empty stadia.
