'base til you're faced

Oops, I mean Race to the Chase, not 'freebase til you're shitfaced'.
Code:
I'd expect the top six will
still be in the top eight
at the end of the year

01 1332 Serena Williams
02 1037 Venus Williams*
03 1017 Kim Clijsters
04 739 Lindsay Davenport
05 691 Justine Henin-Hardenne
06 508 Daniela Hantuchova

The last two spots, however
are up for grabs.

07 461 Eleni Daniilidou
08 442 Anastasia Myskina**
09 410 Elena Bovina
10 385 Meghann Shaughnessy
11 375 Chanda Rubin
12 336 Tamarine Tanasugarn
13 332 Lisa Raymond
14 317 Nathalie Dechy
15 303 Lina Krasnoroutskaya
16 286 Monica Seles
17 275 Patty Schnyder***
18 268 Amanda Coetzer
19 260 Nicole Pratt
20 247 Marlene Weingartner
21 245 Elena Dementieva
22 240 Ai Sugiyama
23 230 Tatiana Panova
24 227 Elena Likhovtseva
25 225 Virginia Ruano Pascual

        Amelie Mauresmo
        Jennifer Capriati

*   Estmated Antwerp champ points
** Estmated Doha champ points

*** No real chance at L.A. unless
    she gets WAY more consistent

We still have 3 slams to go and a whole lot of Tier Is. I think that most of the Top 6 currently have the inside track to be Top 8 at the end... it is far from over. It only take consistent slam results and maybe one big win at a slam.

You're certainly right, but the current top six are also six of the top seven in the 12 month rankings. That indicates they ARE displaying consistency, and all have had a good GS result this year, most more than one. All those players I put in bold are certainly threats, though. Based on history, if you had to put your last nickel down right now, you'd have to bet on the multi-GS winners (monica and Jenn) for those last two spots. But its a loooooong season, as you rightly pointed out.

heh.....I'm guess your assuming Maggie Maleeva will just drop dead before the year-end? NO F***ing way that she won't be top-25 come year end....no f***ing way!

(1/20/17) Just discovered this gem in my private messages from 2006:
Who is Rtael?
This guy Rtael ,brainless and ignorant, is one of the most obnoxious, arrogant and coward guys whos has been a pest in this forum for years now.Given the new anti-bully policy he'll probably be expelled soon. Observe how he tries to rally and gang others against you. Mean people like him shouldn't be allowed here. And all because he "doesn't like your attitude"!!

yeah pretty much agree the top 6 being mention will be or it would be expected that they remain in the top 8 maybey in a slightly different order but all battling out for the top spot in the round robing new format(which is awesome i think)wta championships.the last two spots are really up for grabs but i think if seles recovers and gets her usual consistent results at the slams make all qf or better at all the slams and has solid results on all the other events epecially big tier 1 and tier 2s she will sneak in, in the end and maybe be part of the top 8 at the championships, but i think she can definitely remain a top ten and get a hold of the #9 rank should the rest of the top 8 keep hold of those rankings.

i want someone like bovina to get in because she always stretches the top 10 players when she plays them.

I dunno. I could see Daniela tumbling out of the top eight.

Lindsay is wait and see for me. I hope she does well. I would love to see Chanda Rubin in there. She's got a sweet game.
