Post New Williams Video

I just saw the new DVD about the Williams family and was wondering if anybody else saw it, and what did they think.

As a Williams fan I'm biased, because I enjoyed the stuff I had not seen before. But as a film critic I think the editing could have been a bit more crisp/smooth.

I really respect Richard Williams alot more, no matter how crazy anyone else may think he is. He is one of the most supportive and passionate people that anyone could have in their corner.

And I did not realize how much of a Daddy's Girl Venus was. I always thought Serena was the one. But you can see all the Williams children grew up in a loving enviornment

Raising Tennis Aces: The Williams Story

I got mine for $14.44 at Wal-mart.

Good DVD but I'm rather biased. You see how they're so good and what techniques they used to improve certain aspects of their games. It focuses a lot on Rich growing up in the south and moving to California later on... some good extras as well.

It was filmed before 2001's Wimby but includes some footage of Ree winning FO and Wimby last year.

Federer Blake Fish Roddick Grosjean Bryans x2

I just saw "Raising Tennis Aces". I enjoyed it as far as the content, but I didn't think the editing was very good. It reminded me of an underfunded PBS program. Also, it is aptly named because it really centers on Richard's point of view more than the daughters's. I was most interested in their training techniques and the way they feel about the publicity and pressure of being the best in the world.

Venus seems less reserved in the home footage than she is when she is out in the public eye. I have to say, Richard is hard to get an opinion on. He is always "on" if you know what I mean. I have an incredible amount of respect for him.

The interview with Pete Sampras is really weird though. Pete kind of seemed ambushed but he was obliging.

Yeah I bought it and watched it. Richard is a trip for sure! I liked it though cause any insight is appreciated. Venus is definitely a daddy's girl all the way. The home videos are funny.
