Wimbledon 2013: Most classy trophy presentation ever?

I have to say the amount of respect between Marion and Sabine was outstanding. Sabine almost crying but giving full credit to Marion, Marion cheering Sabine on and saying that she will have another chance, the hugs, walking off court arm in arm. That was SO good to see. Hats off!

FLAVIA PENNETTA

US OPEN CHAMPION 2015

Thank you for all these moments over the last years! Supported you until your final point!

The most emotional moment in tennis. I'm in tears. We should have new finalists in a slam more often.

Yeah. It's one of the few times I felt everything said from both women was honest and from the heart. Their hug was great. Marion hugging her dad. Sabine smiling through the tears..

Marion paying tribute first to her father was a touching moment. You could sense her showing "I had to do what is best (find a new team), but I will never forget what we went through together".

He looked deep into his eyes and said, "You're perfect."

"No, I'm not. But with you, I don't even care."

Re: Wimbledon 2013: Most classy trophy presentation ever?

We needed the Duchess of Kent to have another iconic crying-on-shoulder moment.

I loved the ceremony. More lower ranked players should reach slam finals.
The top players have too much of a sense of entitlement to appreciate a moment like this on this level.

A single flow'r he sent me, since we met./All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet - One perfect rose.
I knew the language of the floweret;/'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.'
Love long has taken for his amulet/One perfect rose.
Why is it no one ever sent me yet/One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get/One perfect rose.

Agreed. It was so nice and refreshing to see such great sportsmanship and respect from both ladies. Such a classy end to the craziness of this year's Wimbledon.

Great ceremony. Lovely Marion. But all props to Sabine. Being a gracious winner is easy, being a gracious loser is really hard, especially when you just lost your first Slam final at your favorite tournament, on your favorite court and you have got yourself to blame for not really making it competitive.
