With no real household names in the final, how will American TV market the Final? I am excited to know!

The last two conquerors of Serena at SW battle it out for her title! They have to make it about Serena.

Rena- a tennis great! 22 at striking distance.

Not a bad idea.

Likely, lowest rated final "ever".

This may not be that bad.
Lisicki is quite liked and the fact that there's no grunting may help.

Re: How will American TV market the Final?

Probably similar to AO. Because without NBC in the picture, ESPN has it live, and ABC has tape delay coverage.

I doubt anyone cares, especially non-tennis fans.

Frankly, i couldn't care less, not everything has to be american centered.
They will promote the same way they promote male finals because it's been a long time since last time an american reach a GS final

However, the men in those finals (for the most part) have been at the top; these two, while performing well at Wimbledon, aren't exactly regulars at the end of tournaments.

Narrator: The last two times Serena Williams has lost at SW19 two individual women have stepped up to take the rare honour of beating one of the biggest legends of the sport on one of the toughest stages of tennis. One has become known for her victories over the reigning French Open champions with victims including Kuznetsova in 2009, Li Na in 2011, Sharapova in 2012 and Serena in 2013, known for her cracking serve which is one of the best on tour and her always smiling and positive attitude she is no stranger at SW19 and will be out for blood in this anticipated encounter.

The other woman, unique and unorthodox in her playing style similar to the two handed on both sides Seles has stormed through Wimbledon to reach her first final since 2007. Marion Bartoli who is always swinging will be ready to swing in the final and have the chance to claim what she could've had almost six years ago.

But only one woman can succeed in this final and both players will be out for the Venus Rosewater Dish as much as the other in what will definitely be a classic showdown.

Who gives a flying fuck?

60 million French and 80 million Germans* will watch the final

(* = most of those probably watching tennis for the first time in 15 years)

What is with peoples' attitudes in this thread?

Apparently, many people care not only because many of us live in America (where tennis isn't exactly popular) but also, and perhaps more interestingly, American tv is known to spin things in interesting ways.

Add 50 million Poles around the world, USA included

'Lisicki's parents emigrated to West Germany from Poland in 1979; her father, Dr. Richard Lisicki, is of German and Polish descent and her mother, Elisabeth, of Polish'
