I love Serena

It seems like there's so much negative energy directed at Serena on this board, and I just wanted to speak up for her.

I would have been happy for Venus if she won, and I feel bad for her.

But Serena right now is the better player. She has a great game and more than that, she has that #1 mentality that is so impressive -- she just refuses to lose. You gotta give it up to her for what she's accomplished, what so few women in the history of the sport have done.

I also like her personality a lot. I love her intensity on the court, she leaves everything out there, and also she's so outgoing. She's far from perfect -- she's done things over the years that I have criticized, but none of them have been that serious. She may have cursed under her breath, but she doesn't curse at umpires. She may be cocky, but she always says nice things about her opponents. And I just get the vibe that she's a nice person off-court, and whether she's nice or not, I just love the intense vitality that she radiates.

I agree Mishar! Serena didn't even play her best tonight but she found a way to win. I think she is amazing.

Serena shows so much passion on court and that's what makes her different from the other players!!!!

A truly phenomenal Champion!!!!

it's amazing that a player says it's ridicilous that I didn't win a slam in the last 2,5 years and then wins the next 4

that's the right spirit

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night

Thumbs up

I agree mishar. I didn't like the cursing, but I think Rena is a tough cookie. Her level of play in this match was great. She focused at the right times, and tonight she came out the winner. Venus put up a great fight though. She didn't give it too Serena. But that serve did her in at the end. The Serena Slam is an accomplishment she can say is hers when she is retired from the game.

Congrats Ree! I love you!

You overcame Kim at 1-5 down and you really did earn this win in the final.

Get her next time Vee!

I know!!!

Serena knows exactly what to do when she's on court against Venus! She knows now that she's her opponent and that she wants this title as her too.

I'm so glad Serena is not on Venus' shadow anymore! I always knew the talent she had! I also looooove her personality!

She's sooooo crazy and intense! You gotta love that fire

GOOOOOOO NENA!!! Roland Garros is coming! You need to defend that title too
