The Swiss player's surgeon is optimistic about her comeback.
A few days ago, Martina Hingis still did not expect to play top-level tennis again. But Heinz Buehlmann, the surgeon who operated her ankle in May, declared there was no longer any medical obstacle. "Martina can play again. Martina would have to grit her teeth and be prepared for some pain. I know Martina very well and I know from the past that she can come back. But whether she wants that, I do not know", he explained.
well, yes, this is pretty much what Martina herself said. she said that when she really starts to practice, her ankle/foot hurts.
it didn't sound like Martina was interested in playing in pain..but maybe she will change her mind.
Martina has played the last 4 years in pain and I'm really not surprised that she wants a break from it, wouldn't you? After all she has achieved she deserves some time to herself. I reckon she'll start to miss the tennis scene after a year or so and so we might see her comeback, I certainyllhope so!
