Venus/Serena [1] def. Clijsters/Sugiyama [7] 64 75

Escaping a 3-5 hole in the 2nd, and saving 4 breakers in the final game.

Sisters into the semis! They won the title in 2001, and couldn't defend last year, with Serena injured.

Too bad for Ai and Kim!
Sounds like they gave the sisters a run for their money though!
Go Serena and Venus for the title! Or else Mary and Rennae!

Sad for Kim & Ai but congratulations Serena and Venus. I bet it was a great match (next year I have to go to Melbourne or take the week off so I can watch TV all day!).

Congrats and better luck next time Ai and Kim. I wish I can see this match on TV. but I live in America and they have a problem with women.

Yeah...true...I can even remember Venus saying during the interview after she lost to Serena in the finals that they better win the doubles title becoz it would only be her GS title for the year.

I remember 2001 AO Final well - Lindsay lost her singles semi final the day before then lost the doubles final on the Friday while Corina won her mixed doubles final the next day on her b'day a nice couple of days there <g>

I'd love to see Davenport/Raymond to win the whole thing simply to get the AO doubles monkey off Davenport's back.

Though I don't think it will happen.
