FED CUP: Does Anyone Find It Hard To Support His/Her Country OVer His/Her FAVE?

I do not know if anybody has posted a thread with this topic before.

If you fave is not from your country and your country is going up against hers, with her in the lineup.

A> At macro level, who do you favor
  1. your country or her country?
B> At granular or micro level, who do you favor?
  1. Root for your fave when she is playing any one from your country, regardless of how the outcome will affect the final result
  2. Root against your fave when she is playing any one from your country, IF and ONLY if the outcome eliminates your country
  3. Always against your country, regardless what players are on the courts; you hate to see your fave on the loosing end

Country over fave.

It varies.

Venus over Jo-La is emotionally somewhat difficult as I lurv them both, but in the end this breaks the same way, either way. I have to go with Venus/USA, just as I would go with Venus at, say, Memphis or Wimbledon.

Serena over Jo-La is super-hard for me because my natural inclination is totally (if hopelessly) for the Swede. Any other time or place, I would root for the Jojo Mojo. But at Fed Cup I'm rooting for my fellow 'merican.

Other than that, I like to hear my faves are doing well for their country, and if the USA isn't playing I'll usually root for a fave player's country (e.g. supporting Russia when Lena was on the team).

Fave always. I rooted for Maria over Serena in the Olympics final and was punished for it

How were you punished?
Were you put into re-education camp to learn how to be a good patriot?

All about who I like. I was rooting for Arvidsson against Sloane and rooting for Serena and Venus in their matches.

Would have rooted for Kim against France. I'd root for France against Vika though, but that's not likely to happen anyway.

I root for fave. It just so happens that my faves also represent my country.

THis means it is the palyers involved, your country really plays no role at all.

Your sentiments in FedCup are the same as they are in regular WTA events.

Is this correct?

Re: FED CUP: Does Anyone Find It Hard To Support His/Her Country OVer His/Her FAVE?

Aside from miffedmax who has nuanced his choice, no one has agonized on the decision to support their fave over the country.

I am surprised of how easy it is for posters to pick their fave over their country
Having made such decision( I thought would be momentous) so easily, how do you comment when the state of tennis in your country is discussed and the news is NOT good in the near future?

Re: FED CUP: Does Anyone Find It Hard To Support His/Her Country OVer His/Her FAVE?

I watched mostly Slovakia v Russia and some Germany v Serbia and USA v Sweden. I checked out how Canada was doing but that's about it.

So, I guess that I chose to watch my favourite players over my country. I also chose the favourite more than their country. Maybe if Canada was more competitive that would change.

I had two favourites playing each other today and I didn't really "cheer" for either. I just wanted to see each of them play well (one didn't ) and just go with the positive feelings with the winner. Positive > negative.

Dominika Cibulková · Elena Vesnina · Juan Martín del Potro
Kristýna Plíšková · Gabriela Dabrowski · Naomi Broady · Stefanie Vögele · Lauren Davis · Aleksandra Krunić · Karolina Plíšková

Angelique Kerber · Andrea Petković · Garbińe Muguruza

If Venus was playing against Australia in Fed Cup, I would want her to destroy the whole team
