I would never root for country (Stosur) over fave (Serena). That's just embarrassing.

My country is a total non-factor in tennis so I don't have this problem.

But if I found myself in such situation, I'd definitely root for my fave over my country. I always want my favorite to win no matter who she's playing against. My fave could be playing against my mother, and I'd still want my fave to win.

Re: FED CUP: Does Anyone Find It Hard To Support His/Her Country OVer His/Her FAVE?

In the Davis Cup , i used to root for Safin even when Russia was playing against France .

Whether it is Fed Cup or Olympics, i find it difficult to consider tennis everything else but a collective sport . Tennis is completely individual for me . Additionally , i am not patriotic whatsoever ,i will always root for serena no matter who is in the opposite side .And as i love her so much i wind up rooting for my favorite's country over my own country .

God couldn't have made a better human being than Michael Jackson
Serena Williams : Greatest Player of All Times .

i'm lucky that my main fave is my compatriot, but in men's tennis i don't care about Davydenkos losing to my more favourite players

I don't have this problem, because my faves are Serbian girls and I support them wherever they play

maria sharapova • sabine lisicki • martina hingis • tsvetana pironkova • ons jabeur • elina svitolina • barbora strycova • ashleigh barty • nina stojanovic

Re: FED CUP: Does Anyone Find It Hard To Support His/Her Country OVer His/Her FAVE?

Well two of my faves are Australian so that helps. But for example if it it was Aus vs Russia and Maria was playing then I would cheer for Aus. Most likely it'd be Sam playing anyways so that would help. But yeah Aus over faves for sure.

sam stosur. maria sharapova. jarmila gajdosova
dellacqua.kvitova.tomljanovic.safarova.

Maria is a true-blue American. When did she ever pay taxes to the Motherland?

It's Serena or nothing. No inbetweeners.

I always support my faves... I don't like errani, the way she play and the way she exult at all the unforced errors of her opponent 'cause she doesnt make a winner in the whole match... for example yesterday I was rooting for kvitova even if the czech isn't one of my faves!

Re: FED CUP: Does Anyone Find It Hard To Support His/Her Country OVer His/Her FAVE?

In Fed Cup and Davis Cup, it is country over fave most of the time, especially when the country is huge underdog, but it doesn't happen too often. I don't care THAT much what my faves are doing in Fed Cup, just don't suffer embarassing losses or injuries. They are doing it for their own country and team, not for me.
