Y'all stfu!!!! Despite adversity (Sjogren's, back probs, etc), Venus competed and fought fiercely to the bitter end, unlike some of her compatriots who are 10 yrs younger & just fade away in the face of pressure. Congrats Team USA anchored by the Williams Sisters

Really weird to analyse this match. Venus seemed energetic at first and playing well, whilst reigning in the serve out of choice rather than necessity.

Larsson played a better second set, and when it got tight, Venus's back, mentality and energy all seemed to go! So tough to watch her at these moments, when everything is a struggle, seems weird to think that just three years ago at 30 she was still regularly clockin 120+ serves.

She needs to get this back sorted once and for all, because if you take away serve and mental problems, her game is actually in good health. Groundies and movement are still good when on.
Co-sign. Every time I watch her now I mostly only worry when she's serving. She moving better and the other aspects of her game are a lot better than late last year for sure.

I'm just thankful she still wants to play but it's painful watching her struggle like this especially in the serve department.

Luckily, I didn't see it, though.

A win is a win and a win is a defeat of Sweden.

So Stephens was scheduled to play the 4th match but instead MJF picked Venus over Stephens at the last minute ?

I am glad I did not watch the match, but happy she won.
Obviously, she still has work to do, but at least she did not MJF down for switch things around in the middle of the tournament.

I am sure it was not an easy decision for MJF.

Larsson has really acquitted herself well here. She did it for Mother Sweden and miffedmax.

Well, first she said she was going with ranking, now with experience.

I understand this was not an easy decision for her, but this is poorly worded.
I mean, if she wanted to go with experience, it was already there, it is not Venus just acquire experience.
We all know why she made the decision she made at this time: Sloane is in slump and is has not recovered from it. MJF did not see any other way to give a chance to the USA by replace Sloane.
