Re: Greater GOAT?

When Serena reaches 17 then we can start a discussion on this.

But as of today, Roger has more slams, way more weeks at number 1, more titles, more YECs.

ITF: “She is the sole author of her own misfortune.”

Yeah outside the slams I imagine Roger's top 10 record is pretty meh these days (even probably even quite average in slams).

Though, I do find it strange that you have such a strong opinion (saying the ATP youngsters are at a higher level of play than the WTA youngsters) and then go on to say that they are incomparable.
Okay, if you want to equate Maria's game and abilities to Nadal's simply because she's routing players, be my guest.

It's not cherry-picking btw, Federer had a 6-6 record against top 4 players last year. (Djokovic was 8-8 for comparison) Pretty good for a past his prime 31 year old playing against GOAT level players all 5-6 years younger than him.

I'm a Serena fan but Roger has been far more consistent than her.

Not going to take part in this discussion (though some of the answers in this thread make me ) but you're seriously taking that as an argument? You do realize that in men's tennis matches are very rarely won with bagels and breadstick compared to women's tennis, right? That's what happens when the average player has a much better serve.

Just so you know: I'm better than you because my fave is better than your fave. Your fave is a bitch and a shrieking BBB. Or was it pusher? Who cares. She's a classless brat anyway. But don't you dare insult my fave, idiot.

Re: Greater GOAT?

Serena Slam + Olympic Gold is greater than anything Roger has done.

Sure he is more consistent but Serena is ageless and rivalless.

Federer at his best can be beaten by Nadal. In fact, on clay it's a guarantee that Nadal will win. But Serena at her best cannot be beaten by anyone.

Re: Greater GOAT?

If this thread was on MTF then it would be 100% Fed, 0% Serena. This is a Womens Tennis Forum so why should male players be brought into it?

I don't think that any all time great is head and shoulders above another, but I'd say that Federer is above Serena by perhaps half a head at this point. On the womens side there are several other players part of the GOAT debate (Court, Evert, Navratilova, Graf...) while on the mens side it's only between Roger and Rod Laver.

Re: Greater GOAT?

Easy question. Federer. If you ask people who's the greatest tennis player ever, I dare to say 70% says Federer and less than 10% says any female player.

Not exactly. Greatness is not only your sports achievements. Otherwise we'd be comparing Graf and Federer here. Greatness is not only sports achievements but also being appreciated. And prize money is an easy way to compare the appreciation of athletes from the same era. Men's tennis has more prize money just because it's more appreciated. Worse thing for WTA players but that's how things go.
