The ATP has been streaming from 3 courts.
I know people on here are outraged, but it is supply and demand, more people want to watch the men.
Also this is the result of Stacy's big plan to leach money off the men. Whilst it is great for the players as they get more money, it is terrible for actual women's tennis fans as the women's matches will get shunted and the coverage biased towards the men.
Stacy has made her bed and we are the ones to sleep in it.
It isn't solely this though. ATP have just negotiated a better deal with the world feed, whereby WTA have no deal with the world feed. So WTA are literally only showing matches that are strictly for TV, whereas ATP have matches that are probably hardly being shown anywhere live on TV, but are streamed for secondary coverage.
I have no doubt the demand for mens matches is higher, but there is no reason the WTA shouldn't be streaming the 3rd court for secondary coverage as well. I highly doubt some of the demand for some of the no name mens matches shown is higher than the demand for some of the womens matches that weren't shown. But the WTA just sorting out streaming for the 3rd court would make this ratio more like 11:6 or 7. I would be far more satisfied with that ratio.
It also goes deeper in that there are inherent problems with the Indian Wells and Miami coverage full stop, tournaments that are meant to be the biggest stops on both tours, and pride themselves as "5th majors" aren't even showing Round 1 live (and in case of Miami most of R2 live). That is just a ridiculous situation, whatever spin is put on it.
The idea of combined events could work better if it was implemented the same way grand slams do it (or even Rome for that matter), but as you say Stacey seems way too concentrated on making short term gains. These events are doing nothing really to actually showcase the WTA as a whole, and they are meant to the biggest events on the tour! And like I said in my previous post Madrid has the potential to be even worse.
