Why do people keep saying Aga's best surface is grass? Just because she was lucky and got to a fluke Wimbledon final doesn't mean it's her best surface.

Honestly I give her credit simply for knowing who Radwanska is.

people said her best surface was grass even before she reached the Wimbledon final. Her groundstrokes lack pace but they're hit very flat. Plus the balls bounce low and fast which is exactly the kind of ball Radwanska likes to redirect.

and calling something a fluke doesn't take it away from the history books.

You nailed it.... I notice that Radwanska likes to crouch a lot while hitting balls which plays into what you are saying that she likes low hanging shots.

She lacks pace which normally would not be a problem on clay... but she has such little topspin that it is difficult for her to push her opponents back.

Someone like Errani, for instance, has arguably not much more pace than Radwasnka but hits with so much more topspin that she is capable of pushing her opponents back which helps explain why she does better on clay in comparison to Aga.

And also Radwanska often times hits the ball early... which on grass (along with the low bounce..) can help make up for some of Aga's weak power.

All in all I see it very difficult for Radwanska to win RG.... but then again RG can produce some awful odd winners from time to time.

I personally want to see Jankovic win it this year but that would require Jankovic to find her brain and confidence again... which is probably asking way too much of her at this point.

I think grass is Aga's best surface as well. It suits her groundstrokes the best despite her lack of power. I love watching her play on grass.

Truth is, her only achievement bigger than Aga's on clay is that sole RG final. Before that, she never even reached 3rd round there. Aga also beat some top players(Dementieva, Li, Ivanovic couple of years ago) on clay here and there, winning Brussels(Errani never won a Premier) as well.

Why am I not surprised someone had to point that out.

I was using Errani for demonstrative purposes..... most people would agree that Errani's best surface is clay.

Not to mention Radwanska has had many more seasons in the top 10 which has given her more time to rack up a better clay record.

Venus Williams has a lot of success on clay too... but do we consider it her favorite surface?

:sigh:

You are missing my point.....

I never said Radwanska was not a superior player to Errani..... but simply that Errani has a gamestyle more suited to clay than Aga.

I think most people would agree that Schiavone has a more clay suited game than Li Na yet that didn't help Fran when they met one another in the final.
