Well to be honest, I did rather expect Monica to make the final here. I think most of her fans who are aware of her strengths and weaknesses after seeing the draw thought, if she gets past AMG this looks good for her, and so it turned out. Obviously I expected her to face Venus in the final and I rather expected Venus to take that but sometimes surprises happen so that final won't happen.
But Olga???!!! No I don't think anyone realistically expected that. I sure wouldn't have picked her for the final, that is absolutely for certain. But she is there and she deserves to be there.
Who will win? My head and my heart both say the same thing but my head also says not to listen to either of them because if they are wrong I really will be pretty bummed. So I won't listen to 'em, and I will just stick with the very safe, "anything can happen in a final" line.
What isn´t strange as Niculescu´s best results are on hard
Just because a player prefer so called "junkballing" style it doesn´t mean she is a claycourter or something like that. There is a very big difference between junkballer and a claycourter. Many of junkballers are actually pretty universal.
Olga is pretty consistent and mentally stable striker of the ball, unlike the ones Junkulescu faced thus far...if she connects with her strokes and has a good day, I don't see how romanian wins here
