She announced it today. Either she knew she'd be retiring (or taking another break) in Memphis, or the article made more people say negative things.

This is sad, this is why i am trying to be nice with my comments and trying to make it constructive. Not an attack.

In the past two years Rebecca kinda isolated herself from a lot of people, including me. She seemed to struggle with the success and attention, was putting a lot of pressure on herself. She was seeing the whole 'famous tennis thing' as something negative, as an obligation. She felt she needed to have a public persona, had to be on the social media, had to promote herself and had to watch out for who was around her. It was just going against her inner nature.

She is a great girl with a raw talent, but not just the type of personality to survive the grind and tears of the tour. It's really too bad and I just hope she feels better and gets the help she needs from the people around her.

Good luck to her in whatever she aims to accomplish off the court

“I have decided to step away from tennis," said Rebecca Marino. "This was not an easy decision, but there are a number of factors that have led me to this. Factors that are part of our society and that I am more than open to discuss, which I plan to do moving forward, because I know it’s part of my growth process.”
Seems like she really dislikes the public attention.

Scully "No! You're bat-crap crazy."
