Re: Rebecca Marino calls time on her tennis career.

Very sad. I do hope this isn't the consequence of a few idiots who decided to get on her case following the New York Times article.

I hope she finds something to do in her life which gives her real happiness and fulfillment.

Re: Rebecca Marino calls time on her tennis career.

All the best to her in her non-tennis life, but I have a feeling she'll be back. Only 22 and the quote about opening up tells me she's gonna adjust in public. Trust me, she'll be back. They all try at some point or another.

Re: Rebecca Marino calls time on her tennis career.

I don't get the whole twitter, facebook thing. I guess since i'm 37years old I have both facebook and twitter accounts, but i'm pretty passive. I see what others doo but me posting tweets or pictures no way. If you're a private person, or a sensitive one, or both, it's not gonna work. For me facebook is just a tool to communicate. Drop the online profiles and keep going, girl Don't waste your talent. Why Do young people need so much an online life

She didn't even break the top 30 and the attention cracked her? Please, she just wasn't tough enough for the grind of the tour.

Re: Rebecca Marino calls time on her tennis career.

She was a 20 year old Canadian inside the worlds top 40 and having just made a WTA Final.....she pushed Venus Williams at the Open and scored a top 20 win over Pavluychenkova as well as a RG 3rd,so she was clearly doing big things(for Canadian tennis )

Re: Rebecca Marino calls time on her tennis career.

Looks like psychical problem from what Iīve read about her. I hope she will get well soon, I wish her a lot of patience especially. It needs a lot of time to recover. Unfortunately many people donīt understand the seriousness of psychical troubles. I donīt know what happened in twitter, if she was bullied in some kind of way or not, everyone feel bad while being, letīs say, bullied, thatīs usual thing, but what is really worrying is reading how she acts. If she saw her fame as a negative thing and couldnīt handle it, or isolated herself from a lot of people, thatīs exactly something what tells you there isnīt something right. And believe me, if you have psychical troubles, then "getting over negative comments" is as easy as getting over endless tootache. People who didnīt fight a real psychical illness (not some kind of so called "depression", but REAL illness and this seriously sounds like it) canīt understand such acting and many think those persons are exaggerating, but the truth is it was probably too much for her already and another break from tennis or retiring is a good idea, if she felt itīs getting worse and nothing changed since the past. And I hope she will be fine as soon as possible.

Didn't she just say she'd give it a chance? Such a quitter.
Good luck with your cashier job then.

Re: Rebecca Marino calls time on her tennis career.

The rigours of the pro tour and all that comes with it seemed just too much for her.

It is a shame she turned pro so quickly and bypassed her scholorship in the US a few years ago.

Best of luck to her.

Re: Rebecca Marino calls time on her tennis career.

You could tell she had problems from her black painted fingernails! Think she's a bit of a Goth deep down, probably smoked a bit of weed too/suffers depression, and gone a bit loopy combined with PMT to make this irrational decision!
I have a feeling she will come back again!!! I hope so cos I actually loved her game and watching her play, and she had top 30 potential!
