How unfortunate I was a big fan of hers. Once her back injury started and interfered with her serving, it was all down hill from there. Szavay will most certainly be missed.

Awww, a real pity. She had a very elegant game.

Poor thing .

Hopefully in the future with advances in the medical field back problems will be more effectively treatable.

I'm feelin' they jealous, like I'm Monica Seles.

Re: Ágnes SZÁVAY announces her retirement at the age of 24

I thought that Beijing final 5 years ago was a fantastic match.

As for Szavay... players like Wozniacki, Azarenka, and Radwanska can only dream about having Szavay's pure tennis talent. She might would not have won anything big, but her game is (was) exceptional.

Not unexpected, but very sad news. So many young top 10/20 players have been unfortunate in the last few years. Szavay, Golovin, Chakvetadze, Safina... Petkovic has had big problems with injuries, Kleybanova had a cancer.

I hope Szavay enjoys her retirement.

That Beiijing final does NOT seem 5 years ago! One of Empress's Top 10 chokes

Will Miss Szavay's backhand but to be honest not heard of her in years so this isn't a surprise.
