Glad Madga is having a good tournament. Sara will be a tough opponent in the next round but the fact that Madga now has 4 victories here under her belt, while Sara will be playing her 1st match of this event, gives Magda a decent shot to reach the quarters I think.

Being able to win couple of matches on a Tournament is always a good thing to see.
If she had a better coach, she would have been in Top 30 by now.

Re: Paris R1: Princess Magda def. Razzano 6-4 3-6 6-3!!

Magda was very passive in this match, she was so far behind the baseline. Still, she hit some lovely shots, and she has such an elegant, graceful game. Although her backhand is still a poor shot.

Virginie Played very well and aggressively at times, but made too many UEs in the end.

I think Magda has the game to beat Sara, but she needs to be much more aggressive.

I thought this was all in Razzano's hands TBH.
Some of her volleys were...

US OPEN CHAMPION 2015

Thank you for all these moments over the last years! Supported you until your final point!

Magda always wins a random tournament every year. Who knows? This could be it

Supporting useless players before it was cool.

Re: Paris R1: Princess Magda def. Razzano 6-4 3-6 6-3!!

A couple of posters here have commented that Magda was unusually passive in today's match. I have to say, I noticed that too. It was an unusual performance from her. She certainly attacked the net less than I can recall in any match I have seen her play. On the other hand she did make far fewer errors than she normally does and she kept the ball in play very effectively. I don't know if her play today was a tactical adjustment to playing Razzano, a player she hadn't previously beaten, a conscience change that is going on in her game right now or just the mindset she was in on the day. One can't be too critical of the approach she took today as she finished with a win, and that is the bottom line for all matches.

It will be interesting to see if she plays in the same manner against Sara. I can't really see Magda outlasting Sara in long rallies so I suspect and change in approach would be called for in this match.
