Re: 2013 Race to Istanbul/Sofia - Week 14

There isn't really a "race" to Sofia. The wildcards are arbitrary and what's worst is the tournament comes the week AFTER the real year-end championship. But I would think Ivanovic thinks otherwise

Not so.

At least six of the spots are guaranteed.

Re: 2013 Race to Istanbul/Sofia - Week 15

Kirilenko, Vesnina and probably Pavlyuchenkova won't be able to play Sofia anymore. They will be involved in the Fed Cup final that week. The same will probably come true for Vinci tomorrow too, that eliminates the majority of the race to Sofia .

Fed Cup

It will be interesting to see who actually participates if Fed Cup becomes an issue.

Re: 2013 Race to Istanbul/Sofia - Week 18

After this week, unless Ivanovic wins Madrid the top 8 in the race to Istanbul will be the exact same 8 that qualified last year. Has it ever happened before that the same field made YEC 2 years in a row?
