Re: 2013 Race to Istanbul/Sofia - Week 13

Caro's so high up despite her lackluster season so far?

Should be because of the IW Final

Kuznetsova Serena Na Kvitova

Djokovic Wawrinka Gasquet del Potro

Also good luck to Jankovic, Vesnina, Stosur, Pennetta, Kerber and Halep

Re: 2013 Race to Istanbul/Sofia - Week 14

Surprised JJ is not in there yet. Well now that I look at it I guess she is only 5 points behind Kirilenko, but still.

at Caro being that high it clearly shows how inconsistent the rest of the tour is, since she hasn't been that consistent either

may your choices reflect your hopes not your fears.

I forgot Kerber too so JJ is still far away on the list.

One Premier Mandatory final can really skew the race rankings this early into the season.

Not that far away, one good tournament can advance her several spots up the ranking, she's 91 points behind #8.

Hmmm, so Kerber being half injured and without doing nothing really special is already at number nine in the race . Not sure if that fact reflects good on her, or atrocious on the rest of the field.

She has Sydney SF, AO 4th round, Indian Wells SF and Monterry F. I'd say most players would love those results considering Maria, Serena and Vika win everything of importance these days.

Truth is that every excuse is good in order to point out a pretended weakness of the tour.

And it's like people are completely unaware there's a finite amount of points to share between players.

I am not saying it's deserved or not; it's just what it is, but the facts are that Kerber has been injured since the beginning of the year, playing at times some awful tennis, and has been unable to beat any player of significance. She has lost lately to La Woz, Cirstea and Pavs, who are not exactly girls on fire this season. Despite it all she's number 9 in the race. It just makes you think, don't you agree ?

Errani is #6 without a top 10 win this year, and Sloane is #8 based exclusively on her deep run at the AO. I am just stating the facts.

I am not politically correct, so there's weakness, whether you like it or not.

Not many years ago (maybe you didn't watch tennis at the time, and don't know any better ) we had: Serena, Venus, Hingis, Kim, Justine, Lindsey, Mauresmo, Pova plus several other highly competitive players.

Do you really think that in such scenario a player like Kerber in her actual form would be #9 in the race ?

Maybe not that far, but other girls on the list can gain ranking points as well
