Re: Who will be able to defend her slam title in 2013?

Serena at Wimbledon. Every time she's won she's managed to defend at least once (2002-2003, 2009-2010) and with her serve it's hard to not see it happen.

Roland Garros is a mess every year. It'd be shocking to see a shred of consistency there if Maria manages to defend. She doesn't have much competition there with Serena always screwing it up, Li Na being a mental midget, Kvitova's level dropping, and Vika not being as strong on clay.

Tough to say for AO and USO since there's so much competition on hard-courts. Serena has never defended any of her USO titles and the last players to defend the AO were Capriati (2001-2002) and Serena (2009-2010).

2012 was such a good year, can't wait for 2013.

Re: Who will be able to defend her slam title in 2013?

Serena is the most likely to defend Wimbledon then I'd go with Sharapova defending RG. I doubt Azarenka can repeat her 2012 beginning of the season, with Serena and Sharapova now back at their slam best Azarenka will have too much pressure. USO is too soon to be decided for Serena, I suspect she'll have too much pressure or end up injured again.

Wozniak~ElTabakh ~Marino~Eugenie Bouchard...and the other Canucks!
Maria Sharapova~Anna Chakvetadze~Jelena Dokic~Laura Robson ~Sabine Lisicki

Martha at RG ...

And Serena at Wimbledon. It's not fun to watch but her serve is just too much there, even if she's playing otherwise middling.

I'm feelin' they jealous, like I'm Monica Seles.

Maria
Venus
ANA
Petra

Serena at Wimbledon for sure. Second best chance would be Azarenkat at the Australian, if Serena somehow messes up it is hers for sure. Serena at the U.S Open is 3rd most likely. Maria at Roland Garros is least likely, although the clay court field is super weak, it will still probably be yet another random winner.

I actually just think Vika at AO. Maybe I'm just being a delusional fan but I think shes the mostly likely to repeat.

Carol. Empress. Vika. P3tra. Garbine. Dasha. Casey. Marion.

I am surprised Azarenka at the Australian doesnt have more votes. Yeah there is the Serena factor, but outside Serena there isnt even a single player who has a chance against her there. Sharapova on a slow hard court beating Azarenka at this point is delusional, and I wont even get into the others.

Re: Who will be able to defend her slam title in 2013?

Serena at Wimbledon..in fact it's the only major she's ALWAYS defended successfully. With her serve, it's gonna take almost a miracle for her to loss at Wimby.

It is pretty much a foregone conclusion Serena will break Navratilovas Wimbledon singles record in 2017.

actually that is true about masha, her goal this year was the clay season
but she's always gunned for wimbledon. it's just a shame rena is so dominant on the surface - even if she can utilise just one shot [her serve]

Oh noo.. We're gonna go down the 'Serena's just serve'-route again?!
Then Mashatards wanna cry about those bad Williams-fans?!
