Oh finally she is listening, I can see that you found your place. Enjoy your fight against Pusher fans and maybe next year you will come back in the elite group but for now you're stuck with them.

Just no. She was in the peak period of her career, but this was hardly her peak level of play. To be honest, she only just gutted that one out. I felt off the ground Sharapova was just better and Justine was not finding enough variety to hurt her. Of course, there are factors like it being indoors (where Justine could get rushed) and Sharapova playing at a level she was not prepared for, but it also was a really busy end of the season for her.

Despite everything though, I did not ever think she was going to lose the match. The epic fight she put up probably caused her to declare it was the pinnacle of her career or something when she retired the next year.

I think in terms of her game AT THE TIME (which I am still over), Justine's loss to Serena in the 2010 AO final is an example for the OP.

All players who are more than 24 yo and still didn't manage to enter at least top 30.

Seeing miffedmax I can't help but to think back to Oudin vs. Dementieva in Paris in 2010

Re: Players playing at their peak and still losing the match

Samantha Stosur def Serena Williams RG 2010

No I don't think that was peak Rena but damn was she trying Should have been a 6-2 6-3 victory for Sam anyway

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.
