Arrow Favourite #3 of all times is ELENA DEMENTIEVA of Russia!

Hi guys. I noticed many of you said in the voting poll for a favourite #2 player who never reached #1, that your actual favourite player was placed only at #3. You voted for your favourite #3 WTA player who never placed higher and it is ELENA DEMENTIEVA of Russia! Congratulations Elena!

Hana Mandlikova. She and Miloslav Mecir are the two players that really made me fall in love with tennis. And in hindsight I really couldn't have picked two classier players two introduce me to this sport.

Also voted Mandlikova, although I am just 22 so I didn't have the chance to watch her playing. But then, I saw her results! 4 GS, and she was just one match away from #1, but that never happened. Mandlikova my choice.

That's actually a very nice list of players. I've gone for Pierce.

Mečíř was a great player, but he suffered from chronic back problems so he would never realize his full potential. He often travelled to some 'magic' doctor in Slovakia, who would always fix Mečíř's back for a couple of months.

Still, he became the first Olympic champion in tennis.

Lots of great and likeable players on the list!

It's impossible to choose just one of them so I'll vote for Sabatini, Mandlikova and Pierce.

I don't remember Mandlikova so well, Mecir was brilliant, loved watching him.

Re: Your favourite #3 player who never placed higher is?

Ugh, Mandlikova, Pierce, Coetzer, Dementieva... so many to choose from. I'll vote for Mandlikova as she obviously was the best number 3 ever.

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.
