Tennis World Cup

I've done this thread on MTF, and i thought i'd do it here too

In most sports they have a world cup every 4 years or so. I'm thinking, tennis may be able to do the same.

I know people will say, "but there's the Fed Cup". But this is different...

Let me run the idea past you

1 country hosts. 32 players from 32 different countrys in a knockout style tournament.. It can be the highest ranked players from these countrys, and Have alternates in case of injury. The top 8 ranked players will be the seeds, and It can happen once every 4 years.

If it was to happen now, it would be...

1. Azarenka (BLR)
2. Sharapova (RUS)
3. Williams (USA)
4. Radwanska (POL)
5. Kerber (GER)
6. Errani (ITA)
7. Li (CHN)
8. Kvitova (CZE)
9. Stosur (AUS)
10. Wozniacki (DEN)
11. Bartoli (FRA)
12. Ivanovic (SRB)
13. Cibulkova (SVK)
14. Kanepi (EST)
15. Wickmayer (BEL)
16. Hsieh (TPE)
17. Cristea (ROU)
18. Shvedova (KAZ)
19. Paszek (AUT)
20. Suarez Navarro (ESP)
21. Arvidson (SWE)
22. Pironkova (BUL)
23. Wozniak (CAN)
24. Watson (GBR)
25. Tatishvili (GEO)
26. Martic (CRO)
27. Scheepers (RSA)
28. Oprandi (SUI)
29. Bertens (NED)
30. Babos (HUN)
31. Erakovic (NZL)
32. Peer (ISR)

What do you think?

Re: Tennis World Cup

I like changes and new ideas.

But this idea is just not very original or good.

Re: Tennis World Cup

Maybe like 16 players as an exhibition or something, but nothing too serious. Possible tournament at the end of the year for those not participating in the YEC's?

Re: Tennis World Cup

Every 4 years they have the Olympics, which I know isn't the same but is virtually the same as your format.

Thankyou for years of service to British tennis

Re: Tennis World Cup

It looks like any other tournament. A tournament for individuals presented as a team competition.
