2 of the most talented tennis players, it would be the best match of all time, with all the winners

Davenport , the one who was some points from beating Venus in Wimbledon's final would have beaten Kvitova in any form . But probably we haven't seen Kvtiova's peak yet

Peaking and factoring serves Lindaay would win this in straight sets. Her serve when on was amazing. And I believe Lindsay had an easy time against leftys

Peak Kvitty makes the opponent irrelevant. Case in point: Davenport herself drooling over Kvitty's game in the commentator's booth.

Next.

Re: WWW: Peak Davenport vs Peak Kvitova

Peak Davenport is a limited player who scooped up three majors in a transitional era, before better players came along and slammed the door of opportunity shut.

Peak Kvitty on the other hand, is second to none - unstoppable.

But I suspect many teefs here will knee-jerkily vote based on "career versus career", even though it's obviously premature to make that comparison and is also a different matter from the topic at hand.

I actually think Kvitova. Davenport struggled against big hitters who moved better than she did.

Re: WWW: Peak Davenport vs Peak Kvitova

I believe a lot of these youguns posting here never saw Davenport during her prime. She was a joy to watch (the sound the ball made out of her racquet was orgasmic) and she seldom made UEs. Her glaring weakness was her movement, probably the worst ever out of any player that reached #1 in the world. But her serve was as consistent and brutal as her groundies. Kvitova is a bit faster but I'd still go with Davenport in straight sets. Kvitova has a long way to go still.

Re: WWW: Peak Davenport vs Peak Kvitova

Well, Ludmilla has the power and variety to repeatedly hit the sidelines in a random unpredictable fashion (mostly because she plays completely by instinct and without any sort of tactics at all), and it would have been much harder for Fatvenport to simply stand in one place midcourt and clobber balls that kept coming back to her.
BOTH of them suffer from the same complete lack of desire to be a champion, deeply introverted and slouching about court full of talent, but uncomfortable with the pressure it brought.
Fatvenport on the other hand had a little bit more willingness to play ugly and grind it out...

so...two tough sets 7-5 5-7 and then Ludmilla decides she is suffering from Hypothermia or something and loses the third 0-6.

Considering the increasing number of stupid polls, I guess it's off-season already, right?

Tough question...lots of short rallies. A battle of serve? I think Linds eeks it out.

This. Absolute mockery of a thread and insult to Davenport.

Davenport was lethal in both service and return games. Kvitova is helpless on the return. Davenport is a 4-time YE#1 for crying out loud.
