In this case, petit ami means boyfriend.

shocking news

Re: Former Top 50 player Claudine Schaul busted for trafficking cocaine?!

This is sad.

Another proof shows how brutal life on the tennis circus is. Lots of lower ranked players have to struggle with stresses, injuries, over expenses, overwhelming competitions and travelings that leave them having little money despite working hard. Moreover, most tennis players won't have the luxury of being tennis commentators like the stars ( Navratilova, Everts, Davenport, etc.), so there is little options for a life after tennis. Having no schooling and education due to a demanding sport schedule doesn't help either.

It's time for the WTA to adjust income earnings in regular tournaments and Slams to make sure top 100-200 players , who couldn't break the top 30, have a decent life after they retire.

And you told Sphrontanascier to go in another college because "convier un message" was good french?

I can't. I quit life.

To answer the thread topic : Wow... that's really shocking...

You keep coming back to this up every time. It think it has been more than a year, since we had this discussion.

The fact is that, the French language has been enriched by many scholars and writers from other countries, including African countries.

To claim that because you were born in France therefore you have a leg up on everybody else in other countries is nonsense.

Again, as I stated this before, attitude like yours is the reason why people shy away from learning the language.
English speaking countries people are more tolerant or acceptable of non-native speakers trying to learn the languages.
Even Italian, Spanish whose respective languages share the same latin root as French, would rather speak English than be subject to ridicule.

Re: Former Top 50 player Claudine Schaul busted for trafficking cocaine?!

When I was at the index page, all I saw was: Former Top 50 player Claudine Schaul...

I thought it was going to say "retires" or "got married" -- not this bombshell!

And just to think, she was the flag bearer for Lux at the 2004 Olympics...

BARBIE

I assure you that this has everything to do with you, solely. You have a special knack for rubbing the people in the wrong way with your pretentious, holier-than-thou, moralistic persona.

And you also take yourself way too seriously.

He looked deep into his eyes and said, "You're perfect."

"No, I'm not. But with you, I don't even care."

To be honest, that discussion was one of the peaks of 2011 on TF. It's legendary.

Suuuuuure, I am extremely presomptuous and know better than you french language. After all it's my mother tongue.

Wait. It's not my mother tongue. I actually forgot it. True story. It's sign language that I actually forgot. Shame on me.
I actually think people trying to talk french are extra cute, but people lecturing Frenchies about their own language and their behaviour are not cute.

Elina Svitolina will PEAK in 2016

Well she does have a point, considering she was born and raised in France and is fluent in the language. And anyone with only basic school french knows 'petit-ami' means boyfriend.

(sorry if this has already been posted)
Just say you are a profesional athlete and doping trafficker. They strip you of your seven Tour titles, if you have them, but at least no jail.

- Caroline Wozniacki has never beaten a reigning world #1.
- Caroline Wozniacki has never beaten a top 5 player at a major.
- Caroline Wozniacki has not beaten a top 3 player en route to any of her 23 titles.
- Caroline Wozniacki has beaten two top 5 players en route to her 23 titles (#4 Zvonareva and #5 Schiavone)

-Her fans think she had very bad luck with her Grand Slam and Regular Tour draws.
