That was a bold prediction for sure. She will have a better season most likely.

How do you define better?
Year-end Ranking?
Or points based on TF weight function: GS-win +1000 points unless the winner is a didn't win any GS before, then +10 points. MM-win: -100 points. Beating S.Williams +10 points (only 10 points. She was injured anyway).

Re: Players who will have a better/worse season in 2013 compared to their 2012.

It's really unlikely to have 2 seasons EXACTLY the same (same W/L ratio, same n.1 of titles, same ranking, same # of top 10 wins, same n.1 of top 20 wins, same results at slams etc). It's either slightly worse or slightly better.

Re: Players who will have a better/worse season in 2013 compared to their 2012.

i think the thread should've focused more on 'who will have better/worse consistency in 2013 compared to their 2012' as unless your ranking drops from no.1 to outside the top 5 your year can only be marginally different.

True, but you already mentioned six different metrics. Which one do you have in mind for measuring the whole season? For example: Which one of Bartoli's season was better: 2009 or 2012?

Slam results
Year-End Ranking
W/L ratio
Points won
Results at Tier I events
---
# of titles won
# of top 10 wins
# of top 20 wins

If a certain player happens to have better numbers/results in most of these (especially the 1st 5) campared to their last season, then that player achieved a better season.
